M.O. [Buddy] Ward Jr. is an author, licensed stockbroker and corporate financial consultant based in Oklahoma City. He wanted to expand his reach by developing a program specifically designed for small business owners navigating the most vulnerable stage of growth ($1-5M). We brought his vision to life with branding and web design that showcases his financial knowledge and passion for education.
According to a study by Intuit, 51 percent of Americans don’t discuss their finances with friends and family. And for small business owners, that number can be even lower – resulting in 20 percent of new businesses failing in the first two years, and 45 percent failing in the first five years. 137 Awareness is on a mission to change that trajectory.
They came to us with the goal of developing a brand that was frank, yet approachable. He also desired a website that served as a resource center for small businesses navigating the most vulnerable stage of growth – with free articles, downloadable guides, tools and templates at every turn.

Illustrating the concept of financial health with a pulse.
The 137 Awareness logo was inspired by the volume bars on a stereo, and designed to symbolize the financial pulse of a business. We stacked the bars vertically to represent the series of steps entrepreneurs must take to escape the 'financial black hole,' as explained by Greg Crabtree.
Most business owners are taught to manage profit. Very few are taught to manage cash flow. With each bar varying in transparency, our goal was to illustrate that business ownership is an ever-evolving process, and cash flow is the indicator for success.
